Youth and Community Impact

ILA Events reached 500 youth and 400 community members in 2023! Almost a thousand people!

Our Ho’olaule’a and Coastal Jam brought in 200 youth and three hundred community members. Our annual memorial basketball tournament brought in 200 youth who participated in the tournament, plus an additional two hundred spectators and volunteers.

“Our Youth are the heart of our Indian family. We must share and promote health, strength, integrity, and wisdom through instruction and example.”— Puyallup Elder, Ramona Bennett

Our youth are in crisis. They are brainwashed by social media and there is no place for them to gather. They need connection to their culture, spirituality, and tribe. ILA is building that.” —

Puyallup Elder, Nancy Shippentower

Each quarter we host events to support our youth by connecting to our culture and our community. In December we hosted Puyallup’s first Winter Solstice Jam and in April we hosted the first Twulshootseed immersion preschool camp in Puyallup. In May, we hosted our first annual Ty Conway Memorial Basketball Jam. We look forward to seeing you at our events!
